To Be True and Pure for Showing the Nature-"External Drawing Technique" Beyond Oil Painting Technique of Han Yuchen

Release Time:2018-03-20 18:13:17

In addition to aesthetic value, art has a deeper meaning-to shock and comfort the soul through the power of sincerity. If you always think about how to play petty tricks and cater to the social trends, you will not be able to infect the audience.

Han Yuchen is a very sincere person. His works, both landscapes and characters, no matter what time of creations, and no matter how different forms, have one same thing-they don't please, don't cater and don't chase the market, only quietly blooming their own light with absolute certainty. The most representative one is the series of Tibet, those works with emotions, artistic conceptions, temperatures and implications attentively depict the simplicity of Tibetan areas and the pleasures, angers, sorrows and joys of the Tibetans, and also reflect the artistic feeling of "To be true and pure for showing the nature" of Han Yuchen.

For creation, Han Yuchen has been in Tibet more than 20 times. The blue sky, the white clouds, the beautiful sheep, the snow-capped mountains... are Tibetan areas with amorous feelings under his brush; the serene old men, the strong young men, the firm and persistent women, the pious monks... are plain Tibetans in his eyes. All of these are extremely sincere scenes, and finally turned into pictures of new Tibet with strong tension. Fan Di'an, the president of Central Academy of Fine Arts, thinks that the lens of Han Yuchen "is always towards a great and serene life", his works "like the language of long lens in the movie, touch every detail carefully, shoot a transparent space and let people breathe the fresh air."

Han Yuchen loves this snowy plateau, not only to capture the vast and profound beauty, but also because only here is closer to the source of human nature, and the soul will be struck by a powerful force. In the face of such great beauty and purity, all the techniques would seem superfluous and disrespectful, and Han Yuchen is only pious to record what he has seen and felt. The professor Shao Dazhen of Central Academy of Fine Arts has evaluated the deep feeling contained in his paintings as follows: "all creations of art, including painting, really can move the heart not primarily by form, but the sincerity of feeling. Han Yuchen is obsessed with painting, because he has a strong desire to use the painting brush to express his love for the people and the nature, rather than to show his talents and techniques."

  Oil painting Curvaceous Shepherdess

From August 2013 to November 2015, Han Yuchen has successively held itinerant exhibitions in important venues of Belgium, France, Netherlands and Monaco, and Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Russia. During the exhibitions, the audiences were in an endless stream, and the words of mouth had a good response.

Art is without borders, and good things always have the power to reach people's hearts. Tibet under Han Yuchen's brush is vivid, real and multi-angle, this unique expression has caused the empathy of visitors in foreign countries, some of them enjoyed themself so much as to forget to leave, some stopped and stared for a long time, and some wrote their true feelings on the visitors' book. Roger Nilles, a Belgian master of art, has a particularly blunt assessment of the painting: "The author is bold and pure in color, which is big red and big purple, giving people a strong visual impact. The image of the work is subtle and vivid, simple and straight. All of these are typical Tibetan characteristics, so the painter has sharp eyes and strong ability."

On the 152th French National Art Salon Exhibition held in Louvre from December 12 to 15, Han Yuchen won the highest award-Gold Award of Salon Exhibition by painting The Shepherdess, and won the "Silver Award of Jury" by photography work Yela Mountain. Han Yuchen became the first Chinese artist to receive the award, and he won two high prizes at the same time, which set a record of this exhibition.

The People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, People's Network, Xinhua Network, China Youth News, Sohu and other authoritative media have reported, and think that The Shepherdess of Han Yuchen winning the Gold Award is deserved. The professor Su Gaoli of Central Academy of Fine Arts sincerely praised that: "The Shepherdess has a strong humanistic care spirit and a sense of life, and also presents the author's unique artistic temperament." Associating that some abroad media often describe China's Tibet as a dark and backward society, Han Yuchen lets them realize a real new Tibet of China with this natural, sincere and simple description.

It is naturally pleased that the works can win awards, but when mention this experience, Han Yuchen first thinks of two emotional scenes during the exhibition. One scene is that a French women stood in front of the painting Kind, and shed tears of excitement. She bared her soul when she was asked why-because the kind face of the woman in the painting was too vivid, she thought of her mother, kind, moving, missing, empathy...all kinds of emotions were mixed together, and she could not calm her mood for a long time.

Another scene is that one New Zealand friend stared at the work Childlike Nature for a long time, she sometimes showed curiousness, sometimes was thoughtful, and sometimes smiled, in her words, this painting "inspired the most soft part of the heart", and finally she realized her hope to collect the work.

These two things gave Han Yuchen a great feeling. Painting does require painting techniques, but techniques are not the most important, especially for contemporary painters and the aesthetics of the times, mastering the "external drawing technique" is often harder than using techniques. It is precious for a painter to be able to get emotional recognition and empathy from the viewer. Under the support of such a concept, Han Yuchen insists on the creation of emotion and the source of human heart, so that the true artistry can be completely preserved in the painting.

In February and June 2017, Han Yuchen participated in French Contrast Salon Exhibition and London Masterpiece in Europe with works again, so as to step into the European Palace of Art and promote civilization exchanges and mutual learning on behalf of the Chinese artists.

May be amazed at the beauty of characters in the paintings, may be convinced by the profound humanistic ideals refracted by the paintings, these blond viewers expressed their soul communication and mental coincidence from the paintings of Han Yuchen. After the French Contrast Salon Exhibition, the famous French art critic Gerard Xuriguera wrote in the comment article: "The works of Han Yuchen have awakened the things that have been forgotten by people of all over the world."

In London Masterpiece, a famous British entrepreneur was impressed by the work Little Qiangba, and the work was successfully collected by him. However, ten minutes later, there was a dramatic scene. Another Egyptian entrepreneur also had special liking to this painting, but it has been scooped, under his repeated pleas, Han Yuchen finally promised to create a painting for him. The incident was widely praised in the exhibition, and it also confirmed that Han Yuchen's works are widely recognized in the international scope.

After a series of European exhibitions, Han Yuchen returned to the country with honors and stepped into National Museum. With the sponsors of Chinese National Academy of Arts, National Museum of China and Hebei Art and Literary Association, academic support of Academy of Oil Painting of China National Academy of Painting, co-sponsor of Hebei Artists Association, organizers of Handan Han Yuchen Art Gallery and Artron Art Net, "Han Yuchen Oil Painting and Western Oil Painting Exhibition" will appear in National Museum of China on December 9, 2017. On the exhibition, in addition to the exhibition of the works with the creation theme of Tibetan life of Han Yuchen himself in recent years, his collections will also meet with the public, among them with European oil paintings especially French Barbizon School in the 19th century as the key part, including the masterpieces of representatives Corot, Rousseau, Daubigny, Dupre, Diaz, Troyon, Miller, etc.

Being sincere, natural, simple and poetic, a piece of work can be engrossing, the feeling in the painting is what really moves people. No matter the amazing series of Tibet, or the ingenious works of western oil paintings, the exhibition hopes to transfer an aesthetic interest of pursuing calmness of mind and the emotional theme of concerning the source of soul to the viewers. As Han Yuchen firmly believes-good things can stand the test, as long as you do your best to draw well, as to how others judge you, good or bad, time will tell all.
