Sincerity, Nature, Plain, Poetic heart: Oil Painting Exhibition of Han Yuchen and the West opening in the National Museum of China

  On December 9, 2017, the oil painting exhibition of Han Yuchen and the West opened in the National Museum of China. The exhibition is co-sponsored by National Art Academy of China, National Museum of China and Hebei Literature and Art Federation, is supported by the Oil Painting Institute of the State Art Academy and is curated by Professor Shao Dazhen from the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
 

  The exhibition presents a total of 47 paintings of Han Yuchen's Tibetan oil paintings, which are divided into different themes such as shepherds, scenes of life, religious culture and character images, as well as his sketches in early stage and other oil painting sketches; and presents 88 pieces of Han Yuchen's collection of western oil paintings, subdividing into seven stars of the French Barbizon, a century of evolution of the French landscape, from classicism to realism, the style of other countries at the same period, the characteristics of Russian oil paintings and other different units.
 

  The opening ceremony was presided over by Xie Xiaoquan, deputy director of National Museum of China. In his speech, director of the Chinese Academy of Arts Lian Ji said: "The reason why the Chinese Academy of Arts organized this exhibition for Han Yuchen is stemmed from the fact that he persevered with his art for decades and did not hesitate to sacrifice his life for art, the fact that he constructed art galleries to collect Western classic oil paintings and contribute his all to the prosperity of literature and art. In this exhibition, we provides two halls to display Han Yuchen's Tibetan theme paintings with his western oil paintings collection at the same time. We hope that the audience can understand the historical heritage of oil painting and perceive the artistic pursuit and language style of Chinese painters. "
 

  Xu Li, the secretary of the party branch of the Chinese Artists Association and vice chairman of the delegation, spoke highly of the fact that Han worked hard to abide by the hardships and risks and tried hard to practice General Secretary Xi's "deep into foundation and root people" for several decades in strict compliance with the direction of realism. Xie Xiaoyong, party secretary of Hebei Literature and Art Federation, praised Han Yuchen for his creation of an art museum and his collection of Western classic paintings in his speech.
 

  The dean of the National Art Institute of Oil Painting Zhan Jianjun fully affirmed the works of Han Yuchen from the aspects of oil painting ontology language and performance techniques; Han Yuchen's enlightenment teacher of oil painting, Su Gaoli, the professor of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, made a presentation of the ups and downs of Han Kechen’s experience of painting for forty-five years.
 

  At the opening ceremony, Han Yuchen expressed his sincere remarks on his devotion to hard work, a true description of the dangers encountered during his tour in Tibet, and the soliloquy of the tremendous achievements in the future, which won the rounds of applause from the guests and friends.
 

  Finally, Lv Zhangshen, director of the National Museum of China, presented to Han Yuchen certificates of the National Museum for collecting his two oil paintings entitled Strength of Faith and Depth of the Mountain.
 

  In the media interview after the opening ceremony, the dean of Central Academy of Fine Arts and vice-chairman of the Chinese Artists Association Fan De’an, professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts and the architect of the exhibition Shao Dazhen, professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts Zhong Han, vice president of Oil Painting Institute of National Academy Zhang Zuying, deputy director of Oil Painting Art Committee of Chinese Artists Association Xu Qingfeng, and the chairman of the Arts Association in Hebei Province Qi Haifeng, all have respectively given praise and affirmation to Han’s the aesthetic expression and realistic features in his Tibetan theme oil paintings and to the important role of his collection of western oil paintings that allow audiences to understand the historical heritage of oil painting and enhance their aesthetic level.
 

  Han Yuchen practiced painting since his childhood. He liked calligraphy and painting and successively studied from Li Hua, Su Gaoli, Liang Yulong of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the famous painter Zhang Wensin. He has a special liking for the great beauty of Tibet. He was not afraid of difficulties and went to Tibet for dozens of times: resided in tent and Tibetans house, went through snow mountains and glaciers, took nearly 10,000 photos, drew over 100 paintings and created hundreds of poems. His works present vividly the simple and perseverant spirit of the people in the plateau. These works were selected into the "Twelfth National Art Exhibition", the "Looking Back Exhibition of Chinese Oil Painting for One Hundred Years" and the "Innovative South China, Fertile Southwest, Rich Central Plains---Oil Painting Invitation Exhibition for National lands and people".

  Han Yuchen is also a propaganda ambassador for Tibet. Since 2013, he has also held oil painting exhibitions in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Russia. His oil painting Shepherdess was awarded the Gold Medal of "152th French National Salon", the Road of Worship won the bronze medal of "225th French Artists Salon Exhibition", and he was awarded the honorary citizen of Barbizon in France.
